fter Chrome the browser, Google has announced that it will be launching an operating system by later half of 2010. It's going to be called Google Chrome Operating system and expected to be light weight. First few releases would be simple and would target netbooks in the beginning.Google Chrome Operating system is open-source and will be thrown open to the open-source community for sharing. The idea is to build a simple, fast and secure operating. The Os being developed focuses on the providing a fast web experience. It is expected to load fast and get you on web in no time. Most of the activities will supposedly take place on the web. And, one thing that Google has taken seriously is to re-design the security shortcomings on the current operating systems in use thereby eliminating the need for anti-virus software and Malware. Google calls them outdated and it plans to go to the basics to come up with a better one to run its applications.
Google Chrome OSwill work on both x86 and ARM chips. The plan is to have Google Chrome run within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. Web-based applications will work automatically and the developers can build new applications in their favorite web technology.
Let us wait and watch! I am pretty sure the wait will be worth it.
